Butters Butters are derived from various trees whose seeds or
nuts are rich in nutritious oils, such as almond, apricot
or avocado. Butters are solid at room temperature, though
melt easily on the skin. Their lush, somewhat waxy consistency
is highly stable and, thanks to their high content of saturated
fatty acids, their shelf life is also excellent, all of which make
them a great addition to home-made cosmetics.
Waxes, such as Beeswax and Emulsifying Wax, are used
to facilitate the emulsifying process and lend stability
and viscosity to creams and lotions.
