History and Mythology
Tuberose is a seductive queen of sensual delight, who sends out her sweet enchanting scent into the night, a call for love and enthralling sensual pleasures. Tuberose, a native of the New World, is the most sacred flower of the Maya, who regard it as the 'mother' of their Gods and thus ultimately as the progenitors of their own race. They often plant Tuberoses near shrines so that their alluring scent may rise to the heavens and delight the Gods during the night. Tuberose scent is so sweet and heavy as to be intoxicating. Its sensuality is tangible and seductive, but undiluted it is totally overwhelming. Tuberose is native to Central America where it has been cultivated in since pre-Colombian times. The Spaniards 'discovered' it and brought it back to the Old World. Today it is cultivated in France, Morocco and India, where it is used in high class perfumery and for precious incense. It is one of the most valuable absolutes - a ton of flowers are required to obtain just 1kg of essential oil.

Magical Use:
Tuberose can be used in all rites of the Great Goddess, who regards all acts of pleasure as her rituals. It is a sensuous aphrodisiac and well suited for all love potions, philtres and charms to attract a lover. It is a perfect key to the realm of the senses.

Scent:
A heavy, heady, sweet, sensual, flowery scent. Blends well with Vertiver, Frangipani, Violet, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Galbanum, Frankinscense, Geranium, Rose, Palmarosa and Jasmine.

Aromatherapy:
Tuberose can be used in aphrodisiac blends to arouse the senses. It may be helpful in the treatment of frigidity or impotence, where it may help overcome emotional inhibitions and fears that block sensual enjoyment. It is widely used in high class perfumery.

** Do not apply essential oils neat (undiluted) to the skin. The recommended Aromatherapy standard dilution is 1 - 3%, though certain oils may be used in higher or lower dilutions. Consider each case individually.

** Always adhere to recommended safety standards and recommended dilution ratios.

** If you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies test oil blends on a small area of the inner arm prior to general use.

** Keep oils out of reach of children and pets.

** Never allow essential oils to enter the eyes.

** If you are pregnant, consult a qualified aromatherapist for suitability and safety of specific oils. Many oils should not be used during pregnancy, some only need to be avoided for the first 3 - 4 months, others may be helpful during labour, but may pose a risk during the months before.

CARE FOR YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS:
Essential oils are highly volatile substances that easily deteriorate or simply "fly off" if not stored correctly. Keep essential oils tightly closed and store them away from any sources of heat, in a cool, dark place.

A NOTE ON ABSOLUTES
The prices for absolutes may seem high, but in fact merely reflect the vast amount of flowers needed to produce even a small amount of oil. True absolutes have unique and special fragrances which cannot be imitated synthetically. To keep these precious oils affordable and waste to a minimum we dilute pure absolutes to a 10% strength, ie. 1ml absolute to 9ml of light coconut carrier oil, quantities of 5ml and 10ml are supplied undiluted.
